DONATING SOLAR COOKERS TO VANUATU
EBRIGHT ENERGY & FRUIT OF THE PACIFIC ARE DISTRIBUTING SOLAR COOKERS TO VANUATU
On March 13th 2015 Cyclone Pam hit Vanuatu and the smaller islands. This devastated the region and caused widespread food and water shortages.
Now with a crisis on their hands, more help is needed to get the hard working and resilient people of Vanuatu back up on their feet again.
Fruit of the Pacific is a charitable trust dedicated to educating, mentoring and inspiring Pacific migrants that work short term in NZ horticultural industries. Founded in 2009 with a focus on both individual and community development they have since made clear positive impacts on the communities with the health and well being of the NiVan people.
eBRIGHT is working along side the organisation Fruit of the Pacific to send Sunflair Solar Cookers over to Vanuatu as cost effectively as possible. For every 10 Sunflair solar cookers purchased eBRIGHT will send a Deluxe Sunflair Solar Oven kit to Vanuatu for free, we will also organise any other donations.
SUNFLAIR SOLAR COOKER WILL HELP THE REGION BY:
- Enabling locals to sterilise their own water for safe drinking with out the use of consumable materials or extra time and energy sourcing clean water.
- Offering an alternative cooking fuel to wood. Women are also suffering fatal respiratory problems and cancer due to cooking with an open fire inside their homes with no ventilation or flume.
- The ability to efficiently dehydrate fruits and vegetables to preserve food stocks.
- The opportunity for locals to start a micro business by sundrying and selling local produce before it gets spoilt such as Mangoes and other local fruits.

These Sunflair Solar Cookers were greatly welcomed in these regions, they had never been tried before.

This picture was taken with a high resolution camera, it's quite amazing how much smoke can build up when cooking inside a home with little or no ventilation. This is currently how many people of Vanuatu cook often.
As you can see solar cooking would solve many problems and we greatly look forward to improving health and getting the people of Vanuatu smiling again.
